Our Story Behind “Uphar Dil Se”
Uphar Dil Se was not born in a boardroom. It was born on a street corner.
One day at a local market, I accidentally left behind my phone while shopping. A few minutes later, a boy — barefoot, wearing a torn shirt but carrying a radiant smile — tapped me on the shoulder and returned it. He had quietly followed, just to ensure it found its way back .
Grateful and moved, I offered some money — but he politely refused. After some gentle insistence, he agreed for a cup of tea. Over tea and wafers, a story unfolded that was going to eventually change our lives.
The boy, around 13 or 14, delivered newspapers early in the morning, worked at a grocery shop during the day, and studied at a night school. He belonged to a struggling family but carried dreams far bigger than his circumstances. When asked how he could be helped, he didn’t ask for money. He requested for good teachers and opportunity to learn better.
That moment left a mark ! It was clear: All children of his age don’t always need money. They need the right support that helps them to rise. That evening, thoughts kept circling me …
- How can I help more children like him?
- How can this be more than a one-time act?
I shared the experience first with my spouse, and then with few close friends who believed in the same values. Together, we all chalked out a mission: “to support the dreams of underprivileged children through mentoring, resources, and sustained care”.
Next, questions arose:
- How do we make it sustained mission, not one time activity?
- How do we fund this to maintain continuity?
And the insight came that every business needs gifts — for employees, clients, festivals, and CSR. And together our comptencies were good at creating meaningful gifts.
With these firm beliefs, we founded Uphar Dil Se — a professional corporate gifting company with a powerful social purpose. Our intent was clear: We will deliver meaningful gifts and develop memorable bonds.
Today, Uphar Dil Se is run by a core team of four founders, backed by a growing group of designers, packers, partners and mentors.
We carry out activities at two levels:
- We serve corporate across India by offering custom-designed gifting solutions for employee R&R, Channel partner incentive programs, Festive gifitng campaigns, and CSR donations projects. AND
- We channel a part of every project earning to support our weekend mentoring programs at a school for economically weaker children. We play with them, guide them, teach them, and inspire them. And this program is not just for once, but going on continually on every alternate weekend. Good part is that now many corporate executives are joining hands with us and sharing their life experiences with children during these weekend programs.
We truly believe – this is the true essence of a gift — not just something we give, but something that uplifts.
